Jose Rolando is an assistant professor of microbial ecology at the University of Florida, based at the UF/IFAS Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center. His lab studies how plants, soil microbes, and soil properties interact to support plant growth and sustainable production. Current projects include understanding nitrogen cycling in turfgrass systems and the role of soil microbes in phosphorus uptake by potatoes. His work aims at improving nutrient use efficiency and reducing reliance on fertilizer inputs. Dr. Rolando trained at UNALM (Lima, Peru), the University of Florida, and Georgia Tech.
