Don’t Let Back Pain Sideline Your Workforce: Smart Strategies to Prevent Back Pain on the Job. | KC

Back pain can be costly and reduce productivity. Researchers from the Southeast Coastal Center for Agricultural Health and Safety have been working on a study using short training options to introduce ways for workers to manage and limit back pain before it becomes a problem. The results from the Self-management of back pain in nursery and landscape workers study will be shared along with the plans for next steps to develop supervisor training in this important initiative for the industry. Short 5 minute videos and text messages were developed and adjusted using information gathered from landscape and nursery industry experts, owners, workers, and a multidisciplinary team from the University of Florida. 

Presenters will share practical strategies to help reduce medication risks and other substances to manage pain proactively with a long-term goal of retaining workers.
